hey guys. I've run into a dilimma, I have a bunch of songs in my itunes library that are ungrouped and what not. does anyone know of an autotagger that works with jaws? I've found a few but jaws is not friendly at all with them...
There is an audo tagger in winamp that works great. Just hit alt 3 while a song is playing and shift tag to the audo tag button
What's weird about that auto tagger is that it doesn't appear in all versions of Winamp or on all computers I've used. I've found it to be very unreliable that way. Also, is there an accessible way to drag and drop a whole bunch of songs into the auto tagger so that you don't have to do it individually?
The reason you don't see it on all computers is that some have WinAmp Pro, and other do not.
Really? I've never paid for pro. Is the auto tagger a pro feature? Or do you get to use it for a certain amount of time before you have to upgrade to keep it?
You do not need pro in order to have audo tagger. I think you can select a folder and hit your applications key, go to send to, and audo tag should be an option
Maybe. I've only seen it in pro, but you use it all the time Brittany, so.
Winamp doesn't offer a trial. You either pay and get pro or you don't.
But you asked about iTunes? When I put music in to iTunes it get labeled, organized, and such things without me having to do anything. Why not for you?
Wow, i didn't know iTunes did it for you; Must do this. :)
No, ITunes will not tag everything. I've got 15000+ songs that ITunes was unable to identify, and I've been looking for a powerful autotagging solution for a long time now. Then again, I download some fairly obscure stuff. Also, depending on the source, it's not always properly tagged. There's not a thing ITunes can do if the tags aren't right.
Ok, so any other ideas besides winamp? And the reason itunes won't organize these is because itunes uses tags to organize and without some of those tags it'll just label it as unknown.
Actually, I know I don't have the pro version, and I'm surprised the autotagger works really well. I've never even heard of this before so am really happy with it, i'll just have to figure out how to autotag multiple files at once.
Yes, I find it very useful, winamp is easy to use and I'm surprise it works so well and is free. Just make sure you have a song playing and hit alt three. It will come up and shift tab to audo tag, takes a few seconds and your ready to hit ok and move on.
Okay, here is my question. If the songs are difficult to tag how will Winamp do any better at tagging them? It still uses a system to locate what they should be?
Next, what type of system do you currently have now so that you know what you have? 150000 songs is a lot of music, so as you collect it how do you catalog it in the first place?
I have recently discovered "mp3Tag" a very versatile tag editor.
the URL is http://www.mp3tag.de/en/index.html.
The software is made in Germany, but the English support is great. It works really well with Jaws.
You can create tags on a bunch of files at once. The facility I have found most helpful is the ability to create tags from file names.
Because of its versatility, it takes time to learn and use most effectively. But the help files are pretty good, and give you enough information to learn from.
The only down side is that the forums aren't accessible--they have a captia to join.
If anyone tries this and needs help, let me know.
Bob
I forgot to say that it is free.
